Quakertown Alive! Hosts Garden Tour

Quakertown Alive! will present their second annual Garden Affairs garden tour, sponsored by NationalPenn Bank and Native American Nursery, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 10. The event offers both novice and professional gardeners an opportunity to walk through beautiful backyard gardens and outdoor spaces in the Quakertown area to gather ideas and inspiration or simply enjoy an early summer day outside.

Featured backyard spaces include the Gillahan residence, at 317 East Broad Street; the Ackerman residence, at 1104 West Broad Street; the Rosenberger residence, at 1121 West Broad Street; the Bossert residence, at 36 North Hellertown Avenue; the Peters/Scott residence, at 49 North Penrose Street; and the Montoney residence, at 709 Lafayette Drive.

Added to this year’s itinerary is the Garden Market Place, located at the historic Burgess Foulke house, on North Main Street, where visitors can purchase tickets and begin the tour. The house is celebrating a 200-year anniversary by hosting an antique and vintage wedding gown exhibit from the personal collection of designer Keven Beyer, complemented by bouquets created by area florists. Free seminars, a cocktail reception, raffles, prizes, free magazines and refreshments will also be available.

Cost: $15; $12 for seniors 62 and older. Location of the Burgesss Foulke house: 26 N. Main St. For more information, call 215-536-2273 or visit QuakertownAlive.com. June 2012
