River Valley Waldorf School, in Upper Black Eddy, offers a free Tea and Play event from 10 to 11 a.m., the first Monday of every month. The event, held in one of the school’s early childhood classrooms, is open to community members with children, from newborn to 4 years old.
The children can experience the Waldorf preschool classroom, filled with natural and simple play things, such as woolen and cotton dolls, silk capes, wood blocks and wooden play stands perfect for making forts. While the children play, parents have an opportunity to discuss the Waldorf early childhood education program with a River Valley preschool teacher and ask questions.
Founded in 1994, River Valley Waldorf School serves students from preschool through eighth grade, and offers a parent/child class for children up to age 3. The school is a candidate member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America and is accredited by the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS).
