Museum Event to Support Cancer Research at Fox Chase Cancer Center

The Bucks County Chapter of the Board of Associates of Fox Chase Cancer Center will celebrate the excitement of Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival with the event “April in Rio,” from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., April 12, at the James A. Michener Art Museum, in Doylestown. All money raised at the event will benefit Fox Chase Cancer Center.

The festivities will include a cocktail hour and silent auction in the museum’s courtyard. Guests will enjoy the sounds of Sambagrilo—a Brazilian jazz and bossa nova band that will evoke the ambiance of Ipanema. Brazilian-themed delicacies will be served at dinner, and a live auction will take place, featuring items such as trips to Tuscany and Scotland, tango lessons for six people followed by dinner and more.

The “Special Pledge” at the end of the evening will specifically benefit Fox Chase’s precision medicine research. At Fox Chase, cancer specialists are able to use an individual’s unique DNA sequences to determine that person’s risk of cancer. They also use DNA sequencing to identify targeted treatments that can provide the best outcome for an individual patient.

Location: 138 S. Pine St., Doylestown. To purchase tickets or become a sponsor, visit bccfccc.org. April 2014.
