United Way of Bucks County Aims to Knock Out Hunger

United Way of Bucks County will hold its Bucks Knocks Out Hunger event from 8 a.m. to noon, June 20, at Delaware Valley College. BKO Hunger is both a one-day food packing event run by hundreds of volunteers and a fundraiser for Bucks County’s food pantries. Fundraising is going on now at UWBucks.org/BKOHunger until the day of the event.

BKO Hunger aims to raise awareness for food insecurity in Bucks County and create an opportunity for people to give, advocate and volunteer to make the community a better place for all. It will provide food pantries with 100,000 shelf-stable meals, more than 30,000 pounds of locally grown produce and thousands of pounds of lean proteins and other perishables that are typically hard for pantries to secure.

For over 60 years, UW Bucks has been improving lives in Bucks County by uniting donors, advocates and volunteers around the common good. United Way programs focus on the building blocks for a good life: a quality education, a stable income and good health. Programs touch more than one in five lives in Bucks County each year.

Location: Delaware Valley College, 700 E. Butler Ave., Doylestown. For more information and to sign up to volunteer, call 215-949-1660 or visit UWBucks.org. June 2014.
