Kudos: Cathy Windland of Inner Spa

KUDOS_CathyWindland_0917.jpgCathy Windland, owner of Inner Spa, in Newtown, was recently voted “Best Holistic Health Practitioner” in the Bucks County Courier Times annual “Best of Bucks” campaign.

Windland has been practicing colon hydrotherapy at Inner Spa since 2011, when she received her foundation level certification from the International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy (I-ACT). Since then, she has expanded her knowledge base, continued her education and is now a National Board Certified Colon Hydrotherapist. In addition to providing colonics, Windland is dedicated to teaching others the practice of colon hydrotherapy. In 2015, she became an I-ACT certified colon hydrotherapy instructor.

Passionate about digestive health and supporting her clients in their quest for wellness, Windland says she never dreamed of being called to her current vocation. With a background in the business world, Windland says she is grateful that life led her to the holistic health profession and is honored to receive this recognition from the community.

Inner Spa is an organic wellness spa that focuses on cleansing services and internal wellness. It is one of the few centers in the area certified by I-ACT to offer colon hydrotherapy.

Toxins are all around and hard to avoid. They are in the air (fumes, chemical cleaners), food (pesticides) and some personal care products (chemical fragrances, preservatives). They enter the body through the skin, lungs and mouth, and if they do not exit the body, toxic overload could lead to headaches, constipation, fatigue, skin issues and an overall general malaise.

Detoxification is a natural and essential way to help promote health and prevent disease. In simple terms, detoxification involves awakening and releasing toxins from the body. It takes time and effort to truly rid the body of a toxic overload.

Since 2004, Newtown’s Inner Spa has been the Philadelphia suburban area’s preeminent center for colon hydrotherapy and detoxification counseling. The Newtown establishment also offers mineral body wraps and mud baths,  massage, reflexology, organic facials and other alternative healing treatments. Owner Cathy Windland is a national board certified colon hydrotherapist, wellness advocate and detoxification specialist. She and her staff work with clients to help them achieve their personal wellness goals, starting with detoxification and colon health.

“We take a holistic approach to detoxification, with all of our services aimed at helping to reduce the toxic burden,” explains Windland. “We encounter toxins every day through what we eat, drink, put on our skin or interact with in the environment. Sometimes the natural detoxification channels—through the skin and the colon—need help. If the colon is out of balance, it can potentially compromise the function of other systems in the body, including the immune system.  Using holistic techniques to help cleanse the body allows us to restore balance and support overall wellness.”

Action Alert: Colon Hydrotherapy Legislation

A recent House bill, Penn HB 516, is threatening the practice of colon hydrotherapy in Pennsylvania and its availability to the public. Created as a bill to provide licensure to naturopathic physicians, it specifically outlines colon hydrotherapy as included in the scope of practice of a licensed naturopath. If this bill is passed without modification, Pennsylvanians will lose their right to retain their current service providers. Requiring residents to seek out a licensed naturopath for colon hydrotherapy will: (1) limit access to the therapy, and (2) have a huge impact on small businesses that currently provide the service.
