Yoga is much more than the poses seen in magazines; it is a total science for living and being. This ancient science, practiced for over 5,000 years, provides clear methodologies that include how-to steps for self-improvement. We often think of yoga as a physical practice; however, the yoga sciences deal with body, breath, mind, soul, the universe and, ultimately, our own enlightenment.
Chalfont Yoga and Meditation Center will offer a couple of new workshops and classes in the coming weeks. The first workshop, Get Out of Pain and Back Into Your Life, will focus on relieving pain with yoga techniques, and will be held from 3:30 to 6 p.m., October 13. Next month, the center will offer Learn to Meditate, a three-class series, from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. on Monday evenings, November 3, 10 and 17.
In our September 2014 issue, we highlighted some local yoga studios.

Yoga teacher Pooja Erica Andersen seeks to provide relief from pain and stress with Svaroopa Vidya Healing Yoga at Chalfont Yoga and Meditation Center. Andersen opened the studio in Chalfont this year with a desire to share what she had learned over the years with others. “A friend of mine invited me to a Svaroopa yoga class, which changed the course of my entire life. The poses we practiced were supportive and targeted at releasing tension along the spine,” she tells of her first experience with the unique type of yoga.
The newly opened Chalfont Yoga and Meditation Center will host a stress relief yoga workshop from noon to 2 p.m., September 20. In the two-hour workshop—suitable for all levels of fitness—participants will learn yoga techniques to relieve stress tension and pain.
