Bucks Knocks Out Hunger
The United Way of Bucks County will package meals for the hungry residents of Bucks County on August 9 at Ann’s Choice Retirement Community, in Warminster. The goal of the campaign, Bucks Knocks Out Hunger, is to pack at least 64,000 meals, or one meal for every person in Bucks County that is currently food insecure.
At 25 cents per meal, this objective can be accomplished fully if $16,000 in donations is collected. Raising $30,000 will make possible the packaging and distribution of 100,000 meals, plus the supply of cases of fresh apple slices, chicken and ground beef to food pantries in the Bucks County Opportunity Council network. However, United Way is hoping ultimately to raise $36,000 so that it can add to that a partnership with Rolling Harvest Food Rescue that will allow them to collaborate with Bucks County farmers to get the best rate on locally grown produce for local food pantries.
