Himalayan Institute Yoga Training Offered
Moondog Yoga, in Quakertown, in conjunction with the nonprofit, international Himalayan Institute, headquartered in Honesdale, will produce a 200-hour-level yoga teachers’ certification program that distributes the content of Himalayan Institute’s normal three-week intensive over the course of a year, beginning in January, with a summer break during July and August.
The training is designed to expand participants’ personal practice and true potential as teachers and to deepen their understanding of the yoga tradition. The schedule, which requires no more than one full weekend per month, is thoughtfully designed around people’s busy lifestyles and takes into account
commuters, as well as out-of-town participants. “We train teachers so that they can return to their communities and cultivate humility, simplicity, and selflessness through yoga practice,” states Moondog Yoga Studio owner June Hunt. “Drawing from yoga theory and knowledge of the body and mind, we cover postures, breath training, sense withdrawal, concentration, meditation, lifestyle and self-realization.”
