Delaware Valley College, in Doylestown, will hold a free food systems lecture from 6 to 7:30 p.m., April 15, at the college’s Mandell Science Building. The lecture, offered through the college’s Food Systems Institute, will focus on food safety and security and is open to the public.
For those passionate about health and sustainable practices, Delaware Valley College offers many courses and majors to prepare for careers involving food and green living. Some available course topics include organic food and fibers and principles of sustainable agriculture. The college also offers a 36-credit Organic Certification Program, originally only open to military veterans, which is now open to all; qualifying veterans attend the program free of cost through The Yellow Ribbon Program.
Delaware Valley College, founded in 1896, uses its more than 1,000 acres of Doylestown land as a functional learning environment for its overwhelmingly agricultural roster of courses and majors.
