Letter from Publisher, December 2014
As I reflect upon 2014, I rejoice in how family members have grown, kids’ accomplishments and my own progress. Recently, I had the honor of being part of the Bucks & Montgomery County 2014 Class of Forty Under 40 community leaders named by The Bucks County Courier Times and The Intelligencer. Grateful for the distinction, I am particularly glad for the opportunity to meet other nominees and winners doing good things in our community.
The occasion has me asking myself how I arrived at this point in my career. I had never imagined my path would lead to my becoming a magazine publisher, much less a business owner. Coming from the raw food industry, I was looking for “the next thing”, and will always be thankful for a friend’s pivotal words as I debated taking the position: “This publication is a mirror image of you. It’s a perfect fit.” When I became the owner/publisher of the local Natural Awakenings, I knew I had a lot to learn, and that was just for starters.
Through this magazine, I have been afforded the opportunity to connect with countless amazing people, business owners and readers doing great things in our community. Together we shine a light on healthful, sustainable steps forward being undertaken by individuals, groups, nonprofit organizations and worthy causes. My purpose is to help and support my beloved community in whatever ways I can.
We can all rejoice that we are part of Natural Awakenings’ larger community of 3.8 million agents of positive change.
I see you achieving something amazing in 2015, Audrey
