Sound Healing
Dec 04, 2023 01:40AM ● By Ruchi JainSound has been incorporated in rituals and healing ceremonies from the beginning of time. Ancient civilizations used sound and repetitive vibrations to communicate, to pray for rain, and to bind together as a tribe. Sound healing operates on the premise that each cell in our body, and therefore each organ, has a natural vibration at which it finds homeostasis, balance, well-being and health. When not vibrating at its natural frequency, we find “dis-ease” or discomfort in the body, in the emotions, and in the mind. If left unchecked for a prolonged period of time, this can lead to an actual physical ailment.
Sound healing can aid the correction of vibrational dissonance in the body by simply fostering relaxation, that in turn, may bring the natural frequency back to the individual on a cellular level.
Our human bodies are at least 60% water. Cymatics, the study of wave phenomena, has demonstrated that beautiful mandala-like images are revealed when high vibration sounds are applied to water. These effects are visible through science. When applied to the entire body, the effect is profound. That is what happens during sound healing.
As souls living in human bodies, we each carry our own unique frequency, and this affects the room vibration the moment we walk into it. We also know from studies of the quantum level that this blending of energy is continuously occurring. So, it makes sense that sound can change our frequency and help us let go of what is no longer in “vibe” with us, allowing us to reclaim our naturally high energy within. Sound healing has been shown to help in reduce anxiety and depression, lower blood pressure, promote better sleep and increase a general sense of well-being along with countless other benefits.
Sound healing can be done with many different instruments from tuning forks to crystal or Himalayan bowls, to gongs, drums, chimes, and others. Each practitioner of sound healing will also carry their own energy so finding the right one for you is key. This healing modality is showing up more often. Come try it for yourself and experience what it may do for you.
